Microsoft Azure AI Apps and Agents Developer (AI-103)
AI-103 is the Microsoft exam for Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Apps and Agents Developer Associate. It is aimed at Azure AI engineers who build, manage and deploy agents and AI solutions using Microsoft Foundry, rather than only describing AI concepts at a fundamentals level.
Microsoft currently describes the candidate as an Azure AI engineer with experience developing applications using Python and familiarity with general AI, generative AI and Azure services. The exam is intermediate; holding the certification does not guarantee a job.
SkillsNest training supports preparation for that credential with a structured Azure AI apps and agents course. The published modules cover developing generative AI apps with Microsoft Foundry, developing AI agents on Azure, developing natural language solutions in Azure, and extracting insights from visual data on Azure. Lesson titles on this page are the live curriculum. They are independent SkillsNest lessons, not a claim that every Microsoft objective has a matching video.

Domain titles and weights follow the Microsoft AI-103 skills outline effective 16 April 2026. Microsoft can update exam objectives; check Microsoft’s current study guide. Microsoft does not publish an official question count.
Domain 1
25–30%
Choose appropriate Microsoft Foundry services, models and retrieval approaches, then set up, monitor and secure AI apps and agents. Typical work includes deployments, quotas and cost, safety filters and responsible AI controls. SkillsNest lessons on this page follow the published Foundry module; they may not map one-to-one with every Microsoft planning objective.
Domain 2
30–35%
Build generative applications and agents in Microsoft Foundry, including retrieval-augmented generation, tool use, multi-agent workflows and operational monitoring. Hands-on Foundry practice matters more than memorising product names.
Domain 3
10–15%
Implement image and video generation or editing, and multimodal understanding such as captions, visual question-answering and content understanding. The SkillsNest visual-data module on this page covers published computer vision lessons as they stand.
Domain 4
10–15%
Apply language-model text analysis and speech, including entities, summaries, sentiment, translation, speech-to-text and text-to-speech. The published natural language module is the live SkillsNest curriculum for this area.
Domain 5
10–15%
Build retrieval and grounding pipelines and extract content from documents using OCR, layout analysis and Content Understanding. Microsoft can change the detailed skills list; always check the current official study guide.

A practical AI-103 study loop using the course and practice bank on this page.
Step 1
Follow the published video modules in order: generative AI apps with Microsoft Foundry, AI agents on Azure, natural language solutions, and extracting insights from visual data. Pause to try the same tasks in Foundry rather than only watching.
Step 2
Microsoft expects Azure AI engineers to build, manage and deploy agents and AI solutions using Microsoft Foundry, with experience developing applications in Python and familiarity with general AI, generative AI and Azure services. Practise in a subscription you control.
Step 3
Compare the live curriculum on this page with Microsoft’s current AI-103 study guide. Microsoft can update skills measured; this page is SkillsNest training, not the official outline.
Step 4
Use the published knowledge checks after each module to confirm the lesson stuck before you move on. SkillsNest currently publishes 4 knowledge checks for this course.
Step 5
Use published AI-103 practice questions to find weaker topics, then return to the matching course module.
